SWEAT Challenge January 10, 2022

I’m moving my normal Tuesday post up a day early because the Sweat Challenge starts today. I’ve never done it, but I thought I’d give it a try this year. It’s a 6 week program hosted by Kayla Itsine’s app Sweat. In 2015, I was an avid BBG workout user, and I was probably in the best shape of my life, mentally and physically. My typical workout is more high energy, big movements (hence BBG) so I’m switching it up and going with the Pilates challenge. Pilates is great for core strength, something I’m severely lacking right now after being pregnant in 2021. Seriously, I can barely do a sit-up. Poor core strength can cause a multitude of problems, like lower back pain and poor posture. It’s also low impact, so I can do it at anytime of day, including nighttime, without the worry of waking anyone up. My plan is to try to do the workouts over my lunch hour since I work from home, but if push comes to shove, I can do them at night.

In order to get the most out of this challenge, I’m going to include some food challenges. If you read my 22 in 2022 post, you know that one of my goals was to go sugar free for a month. I’m going to try to go sugar free the entire 6 weeks of the challenge. I’ve gone sugar free before and mainly concentrated on making sure there wasn’t added sugar in the ingredients (in all its forms, the food industry loves sneaking sugar into its products). I still consumed sugar in the form of fruits, so technically, I was still eating sugar so maybe I should say I am giving up processed sugar. I am also going to make sure I have something green at every lunch and dinner. When I’m cleaning up my diet, I try to concentrate on adding something in instead of removing a lot of stuff (besides sugar, it’s always good to remove sugar from your diet). I have a feeling I will be eating a lot of spinach the next 6 weeks.

My hope is that at the end of the 6 weeks, I feel stronger, healthier, and have a clearer head. Let’s kick off 2022 with a fun challenge. I’ll be sure to do 1 or 2 posts updating my progress in the 6 weeks. Stayed tuned for the after post to see how I fared!
